Located in metropolitan Cleveland, Ohio, the Shaker Clinic provides psychiatric care, treatment and services to adults. Shaker Clinic has provided comprehensive diagnosis, treatment and follow-up care for adult individuals who are experiencing emotional, cognitive or behavioral symptoms. Symptoms may include memory loss, mood disturbances, anxiety, difficulty coping with losses and transitions or behavioral conditions that interfere with daily life activities. The goal of treatment is to relieve symptoms and maximize a person's quality of life. While Shaker Clinic serves patients ranging in age from 20 to 95, the majority of its patients are over the age of 50.
Due to its location and the background of the founding psychiatrist, Shaker's patient population is largely of Russian and Ukrainian descent. With this focus and years of service within the community, Shaker Clinic has built up a reputation within these populations as having a unique understanding of the cultural issues facing these groups. Shaker Clinic is accredited by The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, and is also a licensed Community Medicaid provider.
Shaker Clinic utilizes its various strengths to provide its patients with quality care. The clinic provides evaluation and treatment to (children and) adults with mood disturbances or other psychiatric conditions, who do not require hospitalization. Diagnostic evaluation, psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy are available to help patients cope with problems such as depression, anxiety, substance abuse or difficulty managing losses and transitions. Its outpatient psychiatrists have extensive expertise in the field and are well known within its communities. The Clinic is organizationally strong with a collaborative and cooperative relationship across disciplines to ensure treatment is high quality, effective, appropriate and well-coordinated. Part of the comprehensive coordination of services include community support services for the patients of the clinic. The case load of the community support workers is capped in order to allow for provision of quality services. The clinic also maintains a highly organized and cohesive training program for the Community Psychiatric Supportive Treatment (CPST) staff.
The Shaker Clinic management team includes the founding psychiatrist (an internationally recognized expert in the field of psychiatry and who served as Medical Director for several hospitals worldwide), staff psychiatrists (who have extensive experience in the field of Psychomacology and Alzheimer disease), a registered nurse with a Ph.D. (who has served as Psychiatric Administrator for inpatient and outpatient facilities), and master's level social worker or clinical counselor (Professional Clinical Counselor and National Certified Counselor).
